Para military officers taken on deputation in NIA
Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to satate :-
- (a) how many officers from Para-military forces, above the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, from a non-investigative background have been taken on deputation in the National Investigation Agency (NIA); and
- (b) the reason/logic behind taking officers from non-investigating experience to man investigative agencies like NIA?
MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISRTY OF HOME AFFIARS (SHRI KIREN RIJIJU)
(a) & (b) : NIA is one of the premier investigation agencies of the country for investigating and prosecution of offences affecting sovereignty, security and integrity of India. It is the nodal agency for dealing in partnership with other sister agencies with matters and information pertaining to terror funding and circulation of FICN including registration of cases, arrest of terrorists and seizure of properties acquired out of terror funds. In accordance with the provisions contained in the Recruitment Rules, NIA have taken a total of 62 officers in the ranks of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Additional Superintendent of Police and Superintendent of Police from IPS and various other sources such as Central Armed Police Forces, State Police Forces, CBI and other organizations.
25 officers have been taken from CAPFs. These officers have been taken based on their experience in investigation and intelligence gathering. After induction in NIA, officers are given further training on all relevant aspects of Law, Investigation, Forensics etc.
